Victor Yushchenko met Foreign Minister Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic of Croatia and together they discussed potential areas of Ukrainian-Croatian economic cooperation. This pressing theme will be also considered at the level of the special commission on Ukrainian-Croatian trade and economic cooperation in spring 2006.

The high authorities welcomed the acceleration of contacts between their business leaders. The Head of State said he believed it was expedient to formulate three or four specific cooperation projects in the fields of energy, transport, and machine-building.

Yushchenko also stressed that an agreement between the government of Ukraine and the cabinet of the Croatian Republic to liberalize visa requirements would help develop economic and humanitarian relations between the states.

The sides also agreed that Ukraine and Croatia had common approaches to the enhancement of cooperation to join the EU and NATO.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk attended the meeting.
