Ukraine and China signed a bipartite protocol on accession to markets of goods and services within the framework of Ukraine's joining the WTO. The document was inked by Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Yi Xiaozhun and Ukrainian Deputy Economics Minister Valeriy Piatnytskyi, Cabinet's press office informed.

As Ukrainian Economics Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk commented on the event, signing this document is one of the biggest achievements of the negotiating process on Ukraine's way to the WTO.

As Minister Yatseniuk reminded, six countries have left to sign the bipartite protocols with Ukraine. The most important are negotiations with the USA, with whom the Ukrainian delegation held very fruitful negotiations in Hong Kong within the framework of the 6th WTO Ministerial Conference. According to Mr Yatseniuk, the negotiations with the USA are technical and close to be completed soon. Two out of 15 items of the list of matters and proposals left to be adjusted, the Economics Minister told.

Touching on Ukraine's and Russia's synchronous accession to the WTO, he said there were no "synchronization" word ever mentioned during the conference. Theoretically, Kyiv and Moscow may simultaneously join the WTO, but, as the Ukrainian Minister stressed, Ukraine is being guided exclusively with its own internal interests.
