Yuri Lutsenko, Minister of Internal Affairs, recognizes facts of tortures in police during investigation of criminal cases, as he declared speaking before the Verkhovna Rada, ForUm’s correspondent informs.
In this connection, according to Lutsenko, Ministry of Internal Affairs formed a special group, which consists of representatives of the most famous organizations on human rights. The group along with VR Top Human Rights Official Nina Karpachyova has a right to enter any ward and personally make sure of propriety of police officials’ actions.
Besides, Lutsenko noted that MPs of Ukraine would be delivered a videotape recording with journalist’ talks with one of the witnesses on “Kolesnikov case”, who accused police of subjecting him to tortures. MPs themselves are not allowed to meet the witness, as Lutsenko said.
