The United States appreciates the participation of Ukrainian military men in the peacemaking mission in Iraq, as declared Condoleezza Rice in an interview with Ukrainian students in Kyiv.
She noted that Ukrainian troops had arrived in Iraq at the very moment, when Iraq needed help. Iraq did not have its own government and U.S. government was engaged in training of Iraqi security forces.
At the same time, U.S. State Secretary mentioned that later Ukraine decided to train Iraqi military men in order to enable Iraqis to prepare their Armed Forces by themselves.
“It does not influence the American-Ukrainian relations negatively, and we appreciate Ukraine’s contribution to development of democracy and stability in Iraq,” said Rice, ForUm's correspondent informed.
Besides, according to Condoleezza Rice, U.S. government respects Ukraine’s decision to withdraw peacemakers from Iraq.
