Prime Minister of Great Britain Tony Blair hopes that Ukraine will enter World Trade Organization at the beginning of 2006 year, as he declared during today’s press conference after the Summit “Ukraine-EU”.

British PM said he was convinced that relations between Ukraine and the European Union would only get better.

“I hope this will not only be the most successful summit between Ukraine and the EU, but will also be a powerful impetus for future development. You can be sure that such countries as Great Britain will be your partners on your way to the free future and to the European Union,” he assured those present.

On behalf of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso stressed that Ukraine was “doing great progress”, the President's press office reported

“In fact, we can say that we agreed to recognize Ukraine as a market economy. We can also announce the start of our negotiations to liberalize visa requirements for Ukraine, and will do many more things to enhance relations between the European Union and Ukraine,” he stressed.
