Victor Yushchenko congratulated Metropolitan Volodymyr of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on his seventieth anniversary, the President's press office reported+.
“Today, I would like Metropolitan Volodymyr to live happily to consolidate our nation and church, which the people expect so much,” he stressed.
The Head of State said he was convinced that Ukraine would have the united Orthodox Church, “where the clergy and the Ukrainian nation will live in harmony.”
“I know this road is hard. This road is for worthy people. I am convinced Metropolitan Volodymyr is one of these worthy men,” he stressed.
Speaking about Volodymyr, the President said he had known him for ten years and thought he was spiritually rich and patriotic.
