During the meeting with Chairman of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Rene van der Linden, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Borys Tarasyuk awarded PACE Secretary General Bruno Haller with the Yaroslav the Wise Order, 4th Grade for the outstanding personal contribution to development of cooperation between Ukraine and the Council of Europe and constructive activity in promotion of democratic transformations in Ukraine.

 
Tarasyuk told Rene van der Linden and Bruno Haller about the development of internal political situation in Ukraine, in particular, about preparations for the parliamentary elections-2006.
 
"The upcoming election is a good chance for Ukraine to demonstrate high democratic standards and prove that Ukraine can really have transparent, fair and democratic elections", the Foreign Minister said.

The PACE President confirmed the Assembly's intention to promote the development of democracy in Ukraine and its approaching the Council of Europe standards.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister confirmed Ukraine's invariable support for the Council of Europe activity and briefed his interlocutors about the process of preparation for the Forum of the Democratic Choice Commonwealth, which is to be held in Kiev December 2.
