Student Day is celebrating today in Ukraine. Victor Yushchenko congratulated all students on their holiday.
In his greeting, the Head of State stressed that “students have always been an engine of changes in society,” and the Orange Revolution was a proof of this thesis.
“We remember your participation and your confidence in the triumph of the truth. You demonstrated to all of us that we should battle for our own progressive choice. I am proud of you and thank you for your civil commitment.”
The President said he was convinced that our aspiration to become educated, professional and patriotic should be a foundation of our renewed country. The citizens of Ukraine, he said, pin their hopes on students.
“One of the priorities of the new government is to reform education and to develop student self-government, creating a high quality and accessible system of knowledge. I believe we will jointly achieve modern European standards in education.”
