Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, has started his official visit to Ukraine today, September 17, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

The President of Kazakhstan arrived in the Dnepropetrovsk airport, where he was met by Yuri Yekhanurov, Prime Minister of Ukraine. The delegation proceeded to the city of Dneprodzerzhnisk for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Dneprodzerzhnisk higher professional college.

The official visit of the head of state to Ukraine will last until November 18. The programme of the visit includes a meeting between N. Nazarbayev and Victor Yushchenko, President of Ukraine, a visit to the Verkhovna Rada, and signing of a number of bilateral agreements.

In particular, the two Presidents plan to sign an action plan "Kazakhstan - Ukraine" for 2006-2007. Besides, a joint statement of the presidents of Kazakhstan and Ukraine, an intergovernmental agreement on military and technical co-operation, an agreement between Almaty regional administration and Kiev regional state administration of Ukraine on commercial, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural co-operation, as well as a memorandum on mutual understanding between the Eurasian National University named after L.Gumilev and the Kiev National University named after T. Schevchenko will be signed.
