Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine continues every-day contacts with “SEAGUL” company, the owner of “Panagia” ship, and with those, who authorized to negotiate with pirates, who captured the ship with Ukrainian crew aboard near Somalia.

According to Vasily Filupchuk, head of MFA press office, the negotiations are coming to the end and the Ukrainian sailors will be set free soon. Referring to the experience, Filipchuk told journalists that negotiations of this kind last three months on average. He also reminded that the ship had been captured only one month ago.

“The main thing our country, as well as other countries, has to do in this situation is to protect the citizens, i.e. every our step is directed to securing life of our sailor to enable them to return home safe and sound,” underlined Filipchuk.
