Victor Yushchenko took part in an interactive television talk show to speak with students of Ukraine’s leading universities. When asked how he assessed our participation in the Bologna process, the President replied he supported integration in the European higher education area.

He reminded all that Europe planned to create it by 2010 to harmonize academic degree standards and unify diplomas, President's press office reported.

“I can proudly say Ukrainian diplomas will have an official attachment confirming you are a specialist that can be employed in all countries of the Bologna process,” he said.

However, the Head of State admitted that there were certain problems. For example, about 40% of Ukrainian academic subjects are not known in Europe.

“There are many problems, but these are problems of growth, not negative problems,” he added.

Answering other questions, Yushchenko informed all that the government was currently considering ways to start a special program to help several thousands of Ukrainian students study abroad.
