Vneshtorgbank intends to buy Mriya Bank owned by ex-Secretary of NSDCU Petr Poroshenko, the President of Vneshtorgbank Andrey Kostin informed abut it.

For the first time Andrey Kostin said in the spring of 2005. After the visit of October 24 to Ukraine and meeting with President, Kostin announced that the very bank he wanted to purchase would have been called in two or three weeks. He mentioned it would be one of the leading banks with All-Ukrainian branches.

Yesterday in interview Kostin called Mriya Bank as an object of his purchase. Vneshtorgbank is preparing corresponding documents and agreements on purchase. Though Mriya yields to Ukrsotsbank in the number of the branches (22 branches and 143 departments of Mriya against 27 and 500 ones of Ukrsotsbank) Kostin calls it minor disparity. The major disparity is the price – Ukrsotsbank’s assets are bigger by six points and the capital – by five than Mriya’s ones. It makes differences for vneshtorgbank. “The disparity of price was ten points, it is serious issue for us,” stressed Kostin.

Kostin complains that Ukrainian banks went up in price after Raiffeisen had bid Aval for $1 billion which is bigger by four points than Aval’s capital and two times exceeds experts’ evaluation.
