The US congressmen declared about necessity to lift Jackson-Vanick amendment towards Ukraine, the US Representative in Congress Kurt Weldon stated in the press conference after the meeting with Yuri Yekhanurov.
“I am confident that we can do it…And we will do it. We will send this signal to Ukraine,” said Weldon. The amendment was not lifted because of “double game” between President’s officials and the congressmen.
Jackson-Vanick amendment was issued towards the USSR concerning the obstacles for Jewish immigration.
