Ukraine’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Borys Tarasuk has denied the claim posted by Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper. It read that Ukraine buried chemical weapon and waste nuclear fuel next to Russian frontier in the Lugansk region.

Tarasuk told in the press conference on Tuesday that irresponsible and provoke article had nothing to do with reality.

According to him, the corresponding requests were immediately sent to respondent Ukrainian government ministries and departments right after the publication of the article.

Tarasuk noted that Ukraine is a signatory of the convention on prohibition of chemical weapon and five commissions proved that Ukraine met convention’s obligations.

He stressed that none of these missions found any violation of the convention.

Moreover, Tarasuk added that there was not any Soviet chemical weapon arsenal in the territory of Ukraine since the beginning of the 90’s.

As a reminder, all facilities of Ukrainian chemical industry are constantly monitored by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
