Meeting with Lithuanian business figures in Vilnius on October 24, National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) Secretary Anatoly Kinakh said Ukraine would propose Russia not to change price for Russian natural gas in 2006, the Cabinet's press office reported.
A sharp raise in the price from 50 USD to 90 USD and even 120 USD (per thousand cu. m.) will be a shock to both nations' economies.
As Europe gets 40 percent of its natural gas supplies via Ukraine's gas transportation system, the sharp raise in the price will also affect European nations' economies, Mr Kinakh argued.
As Anatoly Kinakh disclosed, on November 15 an NSDC session, which President Viktor Yushchenko is supposed to attend, will tackle problems of Ukraine's energy security.
