During the visit of NATO countries-members representatives to Ukraine, the Alliance delegation intends to explain to public the inner structure of the organization and consequences of Ukraine’s joining it, as declared by NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer. According to him, for this purpose ambassadors of North Atlantic council will visit Ukraine's regions - Donetsk, Odesa, Kharkiv, ForUm’s correspondent reported
According to his words, NATO backs the carrying of reforms in Ukraine. Speaking about forthcoming parliamentary elections, Mr. Scheffer noted that “NATO can not point whom to vote for, but we are interested in clear and open process of the elections in Ukraine.”
Besides, Mr. Scheffer pointed out that the most important thing for Ukraine for the moment is fight against corruption.
“NATO’s doors are open and will be open for Ukraine,” said Secretary General, but did not specify the possible date of Ukraine’s joining NATO.
