Ukraine has a real chance to become a NATO member in 2008, Foreign Ministry Roving Ambassador Konstiantin Morozov said during a round table on Ukraine's Place in NATO, organized by the Democratic Initiatives Fund and Ukraine-NATO Public League, the Cabinet's press service.
Konstiantin Morozov stressed that Ukraine follows its strategy of integration, which is constant and permanent. Ukraine is now viewed as a country with clear priorities in its foreign policy by NATO member-states. Some NATO member-states are cautious of Ukraine's accedence to NATO, the Roving Ambassador said.
According to Konstiantin Morozov, such an attitude to Ukraine can be explained by inexact data on the Ukrainian population's support of the said integration and by special relations between Ukraine and Russia. To overcome the said obstacles we should conduct massive information work, he stressed.
