Commenting on today’s parliamentary resolution to nationalize Kryvorizhstal, Victor Yushchenko said our policy to privatizethe plantshould be consistent and responsible, President's press office reported.

The President reiterated that there were two legal acts: the law on privatization of Kryvorizhstal and the cabinet resolution to “privatize Kryvorizhstal according to specific terms and conditions.”

“Today, we saw parliament pass this resolution, which has less power than a law. It is a political gesture to demonstrate insufficient understanding of this privatization,” said the Head of State.

Yushchenko added that there were “no legal collisions.”

“We have the law, the highest resolution of parliament. We have the highest resolution of the cabinet. There are specific terms and conditions and so nothing will prevent us from holding the auction,” he said.

Yushchenko also stressed that for Ukraine’s political elite it was important to “be responsible for bills they pass.”

“These are not domestic issues, for they affect the whole world,” said Yushchenko.
