According to the NSDC press service, on Monday, October 10 NSDC Secretary Anatoly Kinakh met with his Russian opposite number, Igor Ivanov in Moscow.

The parties agreed to endorse the Yushchenko - Putin Commission's national staffers in November, along with a plan of joint actions by the NSDC and the Russian National Security Council, Cabinet's press office reported.

The parties also reached an agreement on stepping up economic cooperation, particularly in such strategic areas as the fuel-energy sector, transportation infrastructures.

Kinakh and Ivanov focused on ways to securely protect both countries' frontiers to counter illegal migration, contraband, transnational crime, terrorism.

They also discussed likely steps to synchronize the two nations' accedence to the World Trade Organisation.

The meeting also dealt with stepping up cooperation between the NSDC and the NSC in regulating the Transdniestrian conflict, delimitating the Ukrainian - Russian frontier in the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait.

As Kinakh reassured the Russian side, Ukraine views party, its political dialogue with Russia as a strategic area of bipartite cooperation.

Kinakh, who arrived in Moscow on a one-day working visit, was expected to meet with Federation Council Chairman Sergei Mironov and chiefs of the Russian Federation of Employers and the Russian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
