The PACE's autumnal session got under way in Strasbourg, which, among other agenda items, will address, for the sixth time, Ukraine's abidance by its EuroCouncil membership commitments.

Ukraine still remains the object of the PACE's monitoring as the nation has certain debts, such as the adoption of a new Criminal - Procedural Code, the Prosecutor General Office's reformation, ratification of the European Charter on Regional Languages and Languages of National Minorities.

On October 6 Rapporteurs Hanne Severinsen and Renate Wohlwend will deliver their report on Ukraine.

The Verkhovna Rada Permanent Delegation to the PACE have arrived in Strasbourg to actively champion Ukraine's interests, the EuroCouncil press service told.

The PACE session will likely press for adoption of bills on the President and the Cabinet, with a view of legislatively separating powers.

The session is also expected to suggest that the issue of Ukraine be addressed once again after the March 2006 elections.
