President Victor Yushchenko signed a decree to dispatch Ukrainian peacekeeping personnel to the UN Mission in Sudan. NSDC Secretary Anatoly Kinakh has been instructed to control the fulfillment of the decree.
Nevertheless, the President's decision has to be approved by the Parliament, which is to pass a relevant law.
Despite a scandal, which broke out in early 2005 in connection with financial misappropriations by commanders of the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent in Lebanon, UN appreciates Ukrainian peacekeepers, who participate in settlement of conflicts in the planet's hot spots.
