Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united) will not form a bloc with Party of Regions for participation in parliamentary elections-2006, as reported by leader of the Party Leonid Kravchuk to ForUm’s correspondent.

According to Kravchuk, after the meeting with the leaders of Party of Regions, he “can say for sure that social-democrats will not unite with Party of Regions. We have decided that it is more advantageous to take part in elections separately,” said Kravchuk.

He explained that in case these political forces take part in election separately, they will win more seats in total, then if they participate as a single bloc. As a result, the number of deputies-oppositionists in the Parliament will increase.

Kravchuk also added that “the opposition must be civilized, real and numerically significant.”
