President Viktor Yushchenko met with President Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad of Iran in New York, the presidential press service informed.

The meeting was attended by Ukrainian acting Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk.

The parties discussed bipartite cooperation, having focused on joint projects in the sphere of energy, aircraft manufacture and oil and gas supplies.

The sides agreed to shortly hold a meeting between the two states' Foreign Ministers, with a view of drafting proposals on further cooperation.

It was Viktor Yushchenko's first meeting with the Iranian newly elected President.
