Russian businessman Boris Berezovsky, currently residing in London, has denied assertions by Ukraine's acting Emergency Situations Minister David Zhvania that he provided funds for former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Interfax reported.

"In the wake of Zhvania's statement [of September 14] saying that Berezovsky had funded Yulia Tymoshenko's election campaign, I am saying that it's a lie, and it is, logically, complete nonsense, since it was Yushchenko, not Tymoshenko who ran for president," Berezovsky said in an interview published by Kommersant.

Berezovsky also said that Zhvania and acting Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Our Ukraine Popular Union Roman Bessmertny had visited him in London, while suspended presidential advisor Oleksandr Tretyakov had not. "Zhvania visited me on many occasions and I can outline the content of our talks - support for the Ukrainian revolution. David Zhvania was well aware that I really support all democratic reforms in post-Soviet space," Berezovsky said.
