European Union plans to start a project of technical help, directed to strengthening of security on Ukrainian-Moldavian border, in Transdnestrian region, before the end of this year.
Adrian Yakobovitsa de Segeda, EU representative to Moldova, reported about it during the visit of EU familiarization mission to the border.
“EU will render equipment for strengthening frontier control, will help with formation of information exchange base, will conduct trainings with Ukrainian and Moldavian officials,” said the EU representative.
According to Mr. Segeda, EU will conduct a selective monitoring. “It means that EU customs officials will conduct examination of Ukrainian-Moldavian border in Transdnestrian region without warning,” explained he.
In June of the current year the government of Ukraine and Moldova addressed EU's Foreign and Security Policy Chief Xavier Solana with a request to strengthen the security on Ukrainian-Moldavian border.
