According to data from Prosecutor General Svyatoslav Piskun, on August 24 Nickolay Melnichenko gave evidences in American court concerning "Gongadze case"and answered 86 questions, given by General Office of Public Prosecutor of Ukraine.
However, the former head of radio "Continent" Sergey Sholokhov, who got asylum in the US, stated that he spent the most part of the that day with Melnichenko.
Sergey Sholokhov gave an interview to Radio Liberty. "We had a planned meeting with Nickolay Melnichenko. We decided to work out some documents and juridical steps concerning Ukraine’s moving to real independence… We arranged on the phone at 10:30 a.m. and met at 11 a.m. Piskun said that the court session took place, but it is impossible, as we were meeting in another state. We left after 2 p.m. and till 7 p.m. we got in touch over the telephone about ten times. How Melnichenko could testify and, especially, answer 86 questions?" said Sholokhov.
US Ministry of Justice refused to comment on this information.
