The government of Ukraine intends to introduce a minimum rate of hourly labour pay, as reported by Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Vyacheslav Kirilenko.

"It is the next state standard, which must be introduced," said Kirilenko.

According to him, Cabinet can now introduce minimum hourly wage in the amount two hryvnyas ($0.4), "but it is not enough." According to Minister’s forecasts, the rate should make five hryvnyas per hour ($1).

Kirilenko reported that "minimum hourly wage can be introduced in case of sufficient budget means from January 1, 2006."
