(AP) Ukraine's President was scheduled to head to Japan Tuesday for his first official visit to Asia, officials said.
Viktor Yushchenko's visit is aimed at boosting relations with Tokyo and attracting Japanese investment into Ukraine.
Yushchenko, who will be accompanied by his wife, Kateryna, is expected to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Emperor Akihito.
Ukrainian officials say that trade ties will dominate the talks, with an emphasis on joint aircraft manufacturing and space research projects.
