As reported by the press service IntWestDistribution, "Aurora, or the Sleeping Beauty’s Dreams" – the first feature film dedicated to the Chernobyl tragedy – will start filming July 13th.

Oksana Bayrak – the director of the film – has conceived the idea of making a movie about Chernobyl a few years ago.  The movie script was a mutual effort by Bayrak and a Moscow-based movie director and playwright Peter Gladilin.

The movie is about the relationship between two people – a young dieing girl and an artist coming back to life.

At the heart of the story is a tale of a young resident of an orphanage named Aurora, who is a victim of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident.

The leading role is played by a 13-year-old Kievan Anastasiya Zyurkalova, who was discovered by Bayrak.  The young actress has already become an accomplished artist, having made three movies with Bayrak.  Along with the young starlet, Dmitriy Haratyan will play the leading male role.

A famous American actor, Eric Roberts, is invited to participate in the filming as well.  "Aurora, or the Sleeping Beauty’s Dreams" will be the first Ukrainian film featuring a Hollywood star.

The filming of "Aurora" should be finished by the fall and in December it should be completed.  The movie will be released in the beginning of next year.
