Svyatoslav Piskun, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and the representative of US Department of Justice discussed Lazarenko's extradition. The press service of the General Office of Public Prosecution reported about it.
The accusations against Lazarenko have been brought and sustained judicially. In the near future the judicial sitting is to be conduct in order to pass sentence on Lzarenko's case. American representatives passed all documents concerning the case to Ukrainian judicial bodies.
Along with it Ukrainian investigators were given additional applications concerning the civil action of the criminal case and the restitution of $240 million which was arrested. The applications asked for the legal support for these actions.
We remind that American Office of Public Prosecutor charged former PM Lazarenko with extortion, confidence tricks, transmission of assets and laundering of $114 million in Californian banks. The sum of the laundered money was reduced by the last verdict of the court; it numbers $10 million now.
Pavel Lazarenko spent four years in jail waiting for the verdict. In June 2003, he was released by bailment equaled to $65 million. Presently he lives in San Francisco under home arrest.
