"Ukraine steadily follows its obligations concerning the control on international arms traffic, the corresponding resolutions UNO and agreements on different regimes of export control in particular," stated the deputy head of press service of the Ministry on Foreign Affairs, Dmitry Svistkov. The statement was made regarding the information about Ukrainian arms traffic for Congolese government reported by Amnesty International.

"The trustworthiness of the information is checking now by the competent agencies," added Svistkov.

Ukraine repeatedly figures as the participant of "arms scandals." In particular, in 2002 Kiev was suspected to be involved in the sale of radars "Kolchuga" (Hauberk) to Iraq. This fact was not confirmed.

We remind that Amnesty International accused Ukraine of sale of weapons to Congolese government.
