The sixth International congress of Ukrainianists has been opened in Donetsk. Delegates from 35 countries take part in the congress.
The main themes of the congress are researches in the spheres of linguistics, study of literature and culture, ethnology and methodological aspects of study of writes’ works and literature processes. Besides, lecturers will tell about current state of philosophy, political science, sociology, design tendencies, and will also discuss actual issues of education.
Opening the congress, the vice-prime minister Nickolay Tomenko mentioned that "today we should form the state not for the power and power institutes, but for all citizens," UNIAN reported.
At the same time, the president of International association of Ukrainianists, Mark von Hagen, has criticized Tomenko and Ministry of culture, having said that they "inactively watch the collapse of Ukrainian culture." In Hagen’s opinion, "there is no pro-Ukrainian policy, and the status of the Ukrainian language is weak and unstable."
