Ukrainian delegation arrived in Ashgabat in order to continue negotiations with the government of Turkmenistan. The delegation, headed by "Naftogaz Ukraine" president, Aleksey Ivchenko, was sent on the institution of the president of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, and the government of Ukraine, the press service of Turkmenistan ministry of foreign affairs reported.
The target of the negotiations is offset of debt by Ukraine for gas supply, UNIAN reported.
"Turkmenistan is the reliable partner supplying Ukraine with gas in time and with provided volumes," reported the representative of the ministerial press service. Ukraine violates its obligation provided by the corresponding agreements, he added.
The debt of Ukraine for 2004 accounts $61.7 million, for 2005 - $500 million.
Ukrainian prime minister, Julia Timoshenko, stated that the problem had been caused by the debts of "RosUkrEnergo" company for Turkmen gas. The thing is that Ukraine does not pay directly to Turkmenistan for gas. There is a middleman between two countries - "RosUkrEnergo"company.
