Ukrainian minister of foreign affairs, Boris Tarasuk, took part in the International Conference on Iraq which is taking place in Brussels, the deputy chief of minister’s press service, Dmitry Svistkov, reported.
Svistkov mentioned that a statement would be signed according to the results of the negotiations between states.
According to Svistkov’s words, Boris Tarasuk met with Iraq's Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari. Ukrainian minister delivered al-Jaafri Ukrainian premier’s invitation to visit Ukraine. The visit is planned in the end of July, UNIAN reported.
Iraq considers the coming visit to be very important for mutual relations between two states. The sides discussed the issues of political dialogue, the future trends of the relationship and the cooperation in commercial and economic field. In particular, they spoke about the renewal of activity of the bilateral commercial and economic committee.
Ukraine pledged to support Iraq in its reconstruction after the war.
The prime minister of Iraq in turns highly appreciated the efforts of Ukraine directed to the overcoming of some crucial problems of existing situation of Iraq. Ibrahim al-Jaafri pledged to take under his control the preparation of documents on Ukraine-Iraq cooperation in the different fields.
Boris Tarasuk met the EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana. The meeting was conducted within the framework of the conference.
During the meeting the issue consolidation of cooperation between Ukraine and EU in the sphere of European security and defense was under discussion. It will be benefited by the agreements between Ukraine and EU on cooperation for overcoming of crisis situations and protection of secret information.
The special emphasis was put on the Ukrainian plan of solution for Transdniestrian conflict. Tarasuk proposed the EU to promote Ukrainian initiations.

Javier Solana is expected to visit Ukraine in the nearest future, on July 19.
