Ukrainian minister of internal affairs, Yuri Lucenko, and American ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary in Ukraine, John Herbst, signed a protocol for the memorandum on mutual understanding between the governments of two countries in the context of the aid for law-enforcement issues of December 2002.

According to memorandum, the US government will provide Ukraine with additional aid in sum of $2.769 million. The sum will include technical aid, raising the level of Ukrainian law-enforcement agencies' skills, the program researching of struggle methods with illegal trade of people, retraining of frontier guards, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

Signing the protocol, Lucenko called the document "to be the serious step to the cooperation between the USA and Ukraine."
Herbst expressed the certainty, in turns, that the supreme of law and the security would win in Ukraine. "I think that this program will benefit prevention of crime in all over the world," added American ambassador.
