The mayor of Kiev, Alexander Omelchenko, decided to organize the scientific- historical research in order to find out the real date of Kiev's foundation.
The resolution was passed by the deputies of Kiev City Council on June 16. Kiev City Council stated that the previous resolution of 1982 was passed under the pressure of CC CPSU (Central Committee of Communist Party of Soviet Union).
The deputies sent a request to National Academy of Science of Ukraine to handle the research concerning the date of foundation of Kiev.
Kiev State Administration is to finance the research.
