The number of dolphins in Ukrainian territorial waters alarms Ukrainian Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The scientists pointed to the reducing of dolphins’ population in the Black Sea.
The research assistant of Karadag Delphinarium of Ukrainian National Academy of Science, Alexander Zanin, said in the interview for "Kafa" newspaper that the expedition used the photo identification method. The scientists took the photographs of dolphins’ fins in order to trace dolphins’ migration, “Internet reporter” informed.
The final results of the expedition will be known in the end of the year. "But for now we can say that there is no threat of extinction for bottle-nosed dolphins and common dolphins. The number of dolphins habitant Azov Sea was extremely reduced for the last ten years," said Alexander Zanin.
The expedition is going to last for four months.
