EC EFT takes place in Saki town, Crimea. It will turn local system of medical service into family medicine, the press service of Crimean Council of Ministers reported.
The goal of the project is to improve the medicine service in Ukraine. The institute of family medicine will reduce the number of hospitalized patients, the calls of ambulance and the queues to the specialists in polyclinics and improve the prophylactic measures and clinic examination of the people.
Twelve Saki local medical clinics got the status of outpatient family medical rooms. 104 particular medical specialists retrained into multiple-discipline ones. 30 specialists retrained due to TACIS aid. Lots of Saki medical workers were in Great Britain and got knowledge of Britain family medicine. Saki hospitals are planed to be equipped by the modern medical technologies. The project is sponsored by EC (€250,000).
Today the head of Crimean Autonomy Republic, Anatoly Matveenko, has met the head of the EFT, Richard Styles. They discussed the future plans of the project. The authorities of Crimea and advisers of EC in Ukraine have taken part in the meeting.
Crimean premier expressed his thanks to the head of EFT and promised support for the next project - the evaluation of the family medicine functioning in Ukraine and the creation of fund for support of family doctors.
