The Office of Public Prosecutor of Cherkassy region has brought a criminal action against the people’s deputy Nestor Shufrich, who was elected in Verkhovna Rada from Cherkassy region.
The official site of the Department of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Cherkassy region reports that Nestor Shufrich is accused of bribery during parliamentary elections in 2002, which influenced the results of the elections. According to the article 157, part 3, putting obstacles by means of bribery in the way of free realization of the citizen right to elect and be elected on the post of people’s deputy is punished by imprisonment for seven – twelve years.
