Members of VIII convention of "Trudovaya Ukraina" or "Labour Ukraine" party elected unanimously the people’s deputy Valery Konovaluk to be the head of the party, ForUm’s correspondent reported.

New elected leader considers that the party should switch to the constructive opposition to the new power and to form "the government of 'Labour Ukraine'".

Speaking on the convention, Konovaluk said it is necessary to recruit the known professionals, who will be able to increase the party’s popularity and to make it an all-sufficient power, which can influence events happening in the country, UNIAN reported.

He has suggested to form "the government of 'Labour Party'", which will analyze the activity of Cabinet and will propose its own decisions in case if Cabinet’s actions do not correspond the vision of Labourists.

Konovaluk also suggested to work out a complex program of social-economic development of the state for five years.

At the same time Konovaluk criticized the first steps of the new power. He considers that the change of authoritative elites happened in Ukraine and nothing more. The principles of the former power remained. Victor Yushchenko’s promises concerning overcoming of corruption, unemployment and many other things have not been kept till now.

In his speech Konovaluk paid great attention to the future parliamentary elections. He proposed a resolution about preparing to the future election campaign. The convention charged Konovaluk to renew the faction of "Labour Ukraine" in the parliament.
