Vitaly Klichko, the WBC champion in the super heavy weight, had a sucessful operation for the removal of bone spur of the spine.

The operation was performed in a Los Angeles hospital and lasted 35 minutes. Half an hour after the operation Vitaly went home.

According to the champion’s manager, Bernd Benter, Klichko is not allowed to fly for three weeks. That is why he will not be able to be present at his brother, Vladimir's fight in Germany.

The recovery period will last six weeks, after which Vitaly will start training again. "He will be ready to return to the ring in September," declared Benter.

The operation was not connected with the trauma, which Klichko suffered during a morning jog in March. According to the manager, Vitaly connected his pain with this incident, but a close checkup revealed the bone spur in his lower back, which caused inflammation.
