PM of Ukraine Stepan Gavrish welcomes the decision of the majority of directors of broadcasting stations to put more Ukrainian music and Ukrainian programs on the air, the press-service of the deputy reported to ForUm.

"If we want to defend the right to speak the Russian language, we need ,first of all, to efend the right to speak Ukrainian", - Stepan Gavrish, the head of deputies’ group "Democretic initiatives", said, commenting the results of meeting between the guidance of Ukrainian broadcasting stations and the vice-premier Nickolay Tomenko on Monday, April 4.

We remind, in the middle of February Verhovna Rada registered the bill craft which provides for brining changes in the act "About TV and Radio broadcasting" concerning distribution of air time.

The bill craft suggest putting no less than 50% of the Ukrainian language music on the air. The author of the amendment to act is Stepan Gavrish. According to him, the same norm exists in legislation of Canada, France and other countries, which care about their culture.
