The president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko had not got an invitation to speak in USA Congress until now.

According to the office of the speaker of USA Congress Chamber representatives Denis Hastert, organization of such meeting needs participation of many  officials and departments, but both Congress Chambers have broken up for Easter holidays till April, 5.

The initiative to organize Yushchenko’s appearance in Congress during April visit to the USA belongs to Ukrainian diaspora in America. The minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine supports this idea, but all attempts fail.

"Orange revolution" seems to be not a good reason for Yushchenko’s invitation to Congress. Besides, withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Iraq at the expense of the USA diminishes euphoria in Ukrainian-American relationships. White House insists that Yushchenko’s first visit is "working" one, but not honorary "public".

In spite of numerous Ukrainian diaspora’s demands, senators’ Hilary Clinton, Richard Lugar, John McCain calls, Ukrainian diplomats’ suggestions, Congress government delays Yushchenko’s appearance in Capitol Hill. And according to observers’ opinion, the cause of it is the position of the president of the USA.
