More than 22.3 thousand people and 5.3 thousand units of equipment were involved in the liquidation of heavy snowfall in Ukraine over the past day. The help was given to thousands people caught in snowdrift, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine said on Monday.
According to the State Emergency Service, except for rescuers and public utilities staff, representatives from the Interior Ministry and Defense Ministry were involved, as well as Mi-8 helicopter.
Works on road clearing and transport evacuation continue around the clock. As of Monday morning, the transport links to 105 settlements in six regions remain to be restored. During the day, the staff of State Emergency Service assisted over 3.2 thousand people in the regions.
