Yulia Tymoshenko has said the new version of the tax code, which takes into account the president’s proposals, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada does not significantly improve conditions for small and medium-sized business.

"The tax code was passed yesterday and I can say that it’s not much better because its philosophy remains the same: clans get benefits while the people have their belts tightened so much they can’t breath," Yulia Tymoshenko told journalists during a meeting of the BYuT-Batkivshchyna faction, according to Tymoshenko's official website.

The former prime minister said this type of tax code should not enter into force. "This document must be cancelled sooner or later. A new tax code must be written together with entrepreneurs that will force large corporations, banks and shadow clans to pay the hundreds of billions of hryvnias in taxes that they are not contributing to the state budget," she said.

In her opinion, entrepreneurs should continue to fight for their economic freedoms. "Our fight continues. We have a package of alternative bills that are currently in parliament whose provisions would make it impossible for shadow clans to use offshore zones in Cyprus, where they’re hiding money equivalent to one or two state budgets. We must strive for these laws, which will force everyone to pay taxes honestly, not just small and medium-sized business, to be adopted," she added.
