In Ukraine in the first half-year 2007 the tendency of the birth rate growth was remained. The press service of the Ministry of Justice reported.
For the period of six months of current year more than 225 thousand of new-born children were registered. For the similar period of last year this rate numbered more than 218 thousand.
Meanwhile, mortality in Ukraine still exceeds birth rate in 1.7 times: for the period of the first half-year 2007 more than 387 thousand of citizens died.
It should be noted, that in 2002 for the first time after the Soviet Union breakdown, the birth rate statistics started slightly to increase: in 2002 more than 392 thousand of children were born, and in 2006 more than 462 thousand of new-born children were registered in the country.
