In 2006 the volume of foreign investments to Ukraine doubled versus the similar period of 2005, Economy Minister Volodymyr Makukha told, “Cabinet press office” informed.

According to him, the general volume of direct foreign investments to Ukraine, as of October 1, 2006 amounted to 19 bn. 911.8 M. USD, which equaled 424.3 USD per capita. Investments were coming from 117 countries.

The Minister stressed that one of the Government's priorities in 2007 is creating a favorable business environment, which would promote the development of the internal market and improvement of the investment climate.

According to Makukha, the main factor of the Ukrainian economy growth in 2007 will be facilitation of foreign economic activities and creating conditions for investment-innovation development of industries.

In general, the government predicts the growth of gross domestic product in 2007 at 6.7%, which would be promoted by the positive conjuncture for key types of Ukrainian exports.
