District councils may be set up in Kyiv

Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Volodymyr Makeyenko calls on the Kyiv City Council to consider the issue of resumption of the district councils activities.

"It is the requirement of Kyiv community," he said at the session, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, 120 council members do not have time to monitor what is happening in the city. "If the district councils are set up, people will be able to create a local government," he said.

In turn, present at the meeting MP from the "Svoboda" faction Igor Miroshnichenko said that the decision may be voted for at the city council session, and the district council elections may be held in 30 days after.

He expressed confidence that activities of Kyiv district councils may be resumed in 1.5 months.
