In 2013, Ukraine received the second and the third tranches from the European Union in the amount of more than 170 million UAH for the implementation of energy efficiency projects. This was announced by deputy head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhiy Dubovyk during a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

He noted that State Agency on Energy Efficiency of Ukraine together with the regions prepared 490 project proposals totaling about 1.3 billion UAH. According to him, they are actually work projects to be undertaken in 2014 - 2015.

"State budget did not provide for funding of these projects in 2013 - 2014 years. However, we have planned to use the funds coming from the European Union. The first tranche was 324 million UAH. Ukraine has already received 2nd and 3rd tranches worth 173.3 million UAH," Dubovyk said.

According to him, the first tranche was spent on installation of heat pumps, transferring of boilers to alternative fuels, co-generation of alternative fuel.

"Some of the funds of new tranches will be spent to work with the population. This is a very popular destination in Europe - motivating people to conduct energy efficiency measures: insulation, replacement of windows, etc." deputy head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine noted.
