The State Statistics Service has published performance indicators of enterprises involved in the service sector for 2013. The volume of services provided by enterprises of the service sector totaled 301.8 billion UAH from January to December 2013, which is 99.8% YOY, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

The volume of services provided by enterprises of the service sector in December 2013 totaled 28.7 billion UAH, which is up 5.4% from December 2012.

According to analysts, the growth of transport industry in December helped boost the sector’s performance. In December, all types of transport  transported 68.4 million tons of cargo, which is up 2.4 million tons from December 2012. Overall, 8.4 million tons, or 4.2% more of cargo was transported in the last quarter of 2013 compared with 2012.

The railroad transported 37.2 million tons of cargo in December 2013, which is up 1.2 million tons from 2012. The railway transported 76.7 million tons, or 1.2 million tons more from November to December 2013, compared with 2012.

The growth of transportation by trucks is especially noticeable. Based on the results of 2013, it is up 6.3 million tons, or 3% YOY. Trucks transported 18.7 million tons of cargo in December 2013, which is up 4.5 million tons, or 31.7% from 2012.

More than one third (34.4%) of the total volume of the provided services were provided by transportation, warehousing, postal and courier activity; almost a quarter of the volume (23.9%) are information and telecommunications services; 15.8% - services related to professional, scientific and technical activities; 8.7% - various real estate transactions.
